Broken dollies deserve a chance to start over...just like people.

How many times have you re-invented yourself?

Whether it is as simple as a new hairdo and outfit...

Or you go as deep as leaving your career to pursue a lifelong dream...

Life is about evolving, enjoying the journey and sometimes taking a new path.

A path that takes you to new horizons.

What would you like to see on your horizon?

These Dollies were of course sad and broken, married with vintage lamp parts and the arms are from a broken wind chime.  The will now adorn two clients vanity tables and hold their baubles and bling.

CHA...HOORAY!!!

Today I attended the CHA Convention in Anaheim with 10 wonderul Friends.

I have one word to describe my feelings today....

Well, "Inspiration" to be exact.

Art is WONDERFUL.  I am so thankful to be able to be part of the Creative Community.

Today made me strive for more and gave me a new direction and focus.

Since I sewed yesterday and today I was at CHA, I don't have a new project to share with you, so I dove into my archives and found a picture of these two mannequins I painted last year.

Both were in VERY poor shape and got "makeovers"

This is a pic from a couple years back of my broken down mannequins that have all since been rehabilitated and sold.

The Muse is DONE!

Off and on painting for 2 days and my muse is done.

I am sooo happy with her. Just like the picture in my brain.

Who is your Muse?

My favorite wild Bird, with a nest of Blue eggs.

The matte colors on such a rich pealized base has such a lovely effect.

Hope you can see it as I do in person.

My fascination with Body parts seems to be escalating.

Promise not on the Silence of the Lambs Level...Clarice??

This lovely lass is from the 50's/60's...made of plastic.

My guess she was a counter top lingerie mannequin.

Hence the legs, for getting panties and garters on...and then there are those

perky bullet boobs...

The girl was blotchy gold, so I sprayed her base with some metallic silver paint.

Then started lightly brushing her with 3 different metallic paints.

Peridot, Aquamarine and Blue Topaz.

My goal is to have a Peacock feather colorization on her...

There, her color is done and I am happy with it.

Now for the art on her.  Twisted woody vines with green tendrils, pinkish roses,

white blossoms, a bird and butterfly.  Maybe a nest too.

I spent a good chunk of Thursday painting her, but she is not finished,

so I will post her finished pic later today or first thing tomorrow.

So Dream asleep,  dream awake...and Live your life Out LOUD!!!

The words on this piece are from vintage sheet music that I photocopied.

They are from a song titled, "I'm forever blowing bubbles"

I loved to blow bubbles as a kid laying in the grass with my head rested on my grandmother's dog named "Sammy".  I told Sammy all of my dreams and rambled away between blowing bubbles.

I loved that dog.

The lyrics on her leg read as follows:

"Then at daybreak when I awake, my blue bird flutters away."

The blue bird is our dreams.  May your dreams take flight and become your Reality.

Inspiration surrounds you...embrace it.

The twin doll heads had holes in the tops of their heads...what to do???

Lights?  A vase?

 I know...let's paint their hair green, with vines sprouting out...

 

Wire holders to hold inspirational thoughts....

A garden of ideas sprout from their heads...

May you always bloom"Sweet" ideas, as the "hope" of fresh designs await to be born

and our "dreams" fly free upon the wings of a butterfly!

 

So much fun making these, I giggled the entire time.

Inspiration

What inspires you?  It is different for everyone, but here is where I will share with you, what inspires me and I hope in turn, it does you too. My goal is to post something new 5 days a week of something I have created, something from my home/studio or find so cool that it needs to be shared!

There is some thing about doll heads I adore...see some of my lovelies peeking out of their trunk waiting to be given a new life
